Worker safety and the safety of the worksite are important considerations in making career choices.

Safe workers and worksites are a priority for Alberta’s construction industry.

The Alberta Construction Safety Association was established as a permanent body to provide safety education and training for Alberta’s construction industry. The operations of the Alberta Construction Safety Association are fully funded by the industry through a levy on premiums paid to the Workers Compensation Board.

Since 1993, introduction of safety programs and training of industry personnel has contributed to a 24% decline in Lost Time Claim Rates for the construction industry. Lost Time Claim Rates are a measure of the incidence of time off work arising from workplace incidents. Over 50,000 construction workers take courses from the ACSA each year.
