Administrator
Skills required:
Do you have a good understanding of the relevant regulations, laws and
contract conditions? Are you familiar with the ins and outs of the
construction industry? Do you have strong administrative and
organizational skills? Can you handle paperwork? Then you may want to
become a contract administrator.
Job Description:
Contract Administrators handle the procedures related to construction
contracts. You can start out as a Contract Administrator and work your
way into more senior positions like Project Manager. Specific duties
include:
• Negotiate contracts.
• Interpret plans and change orders to ensure they meet contract
specifications.
• Manage paperwork related to contracts.
• Work with project managers, architects, engineers, owners and others
to ensure project goals are met.
(NOTE: In smaller construction companies, one person may be the project
manager, project coordinator and contract administrator all rolled into
one. Larger companies may have more staff and have these jobs done by
several different people.)
